| Even though the days of pulling TOFC freight through the Rathole or dragging wood chip hoppers over the Old Fort loops is over, this venerable work horse still gets to clean the carbon out of its turbo from time to time. The grounds where the former Southern shops complex in Spencer, NC that is now the North Carolina Transportation Museum is actually laid out in a bowl and the tracks are fairly steep in some spots. Without a good running start those heavyweight passenger cars require some muscle to get up the short but steep hill. |
