Before the Gotthard base tunnel opened at the end of 2016, when trains were still running over the mountain line, the high-speed trains "Giruno" did not yet exist. Since a freight train derailed in the Gotthard Base Tunnel on August 10 and both tubes are still closed, the "Girunos" now travel over the so-called panoramic route. Two coupled RABe 501 of the SBB, forming a 404 meter long train, can be ssen on the uppermost level of the loops of Wassen heading towards G?schenen. The train is IC 10315 from Zürich to Lugano-Chiasso, one of the "Girunos" will run forward to Genova Porta Principe/Italy as EC 317.
