As the equipment for Metrolink Orange County Line train 660 backs into Los Angeles Union Station to load passengers before its run to Oceanside, on an adjacent – and elevated – track a Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Agency A Line train (formerly the Blue Line) departs Union Station and climbs to pass over Chinatown as it makes it journey from Long Beach to Azusa. (Earlier in 2023 LAMTA recently reconfigured their lines in downtown Los Angeles, creating a much-improved and streamlined transportation system in the process.) Metrolink train 660 has one of the carrier's oldest locomotives, F59PH 868 (built in November 1992), for power – one of two still F59PHs operating – while the LAMTA train consists of three Kinki Sharyo P3010 Light Rail Vehicles – with car 1120 leading – built in the 20-teens (that is, from 2014 until 2020). With Amtrak passenger trains, Metrolink commuter trains and LAMTA's A Line, B Line and D Line (the latter two being subways), Los Angeles Union Station is in constant motion, even on the slower weekend days.
