A pair of BNSF GP60Ms (known as GP60M-3s by the railway), 142 and 149, switch the La Mirada Yard. The 149, facing away, is the former Santa Fe 149, but BNSF 142 has a less straightforward history: Santa Fe GP60M 142 became BNSF 142, but was destroyed in a wreck in Conkelley MT in February 2005. In May 2014 the BNSF renumbered several high-numbered GP60M-3s to fill holes and make room for renumbered GP60s, and BNSF 159, originally ATSF 159, became the second BNSF 142. But another source indicates that BNSF 142 is, in fact, ex-ATSF 142 and we never wrecked. Conflicting information is aggravating, isn’t it? (La Mirada, California – September 28, 2023)
