Ferrocarriles del Ecuador locomotive 17 is seen sitting quiet with other Tren Ecuador equipment at Estación Chimbacalle in the Ecuadorian capitol of Quito. The locomotive is a Baldwin 2-8-0 built in 1935 for the narrow gauge Guayaquil & Quito Railway. Currently all railway services in Ecuador are suspended due to pandemic closures and financial losses, leaving an uncertain future for Tren Ecuador and their tourist excursions. |
