BNSF 9297 wears BNSF's initial experimental "Heritage" orange and green paint scheme. It featured a solid 3" red pinstripe that separated the orange and Brunswick green along the right carbody side and a 3" triple pinstripe 2-red and 1-blue (top) along the left side. Note the red-Lettered BNSF Railway logo on the nose. This scheme led to a lighter shade of Brunswick green and a yellow stripe replacing the pinstripes when the standard Heritage paint scheme was introduced on the C44-9W's 960-1123.
