OKLAHOMA CITY OK (January) 1975 — ATSF F7A 275L gleams in the sun while pausing at Nowers Yard. EMD built the phase II unit in November-December 1953 (b/n 18923) and delivered it in blue with chrome-yellow trim and cigar-band nose herald. In March 1978 it entered the Cleburne TX shops and was rebuilt into a CF7, renumbered ATSF 2417 and painted into blue body with yellow warbonnet livery. Santa Fe retired the unit at an unknown date. The Diesel Shop Web site reports, “Active, ex-YRC 1500 < YKR 1500 < MA and PA 1500 < NYSW 1500 Rail Systems 2417 < ATSF CF7 2417 < Nee ATSF F7A 275L (b/n: EMD 18923, 11-53).” My photo.
