UP SD40-2 snoot no. 3288 poses next to SDP35 1406 at Argo Yard where both units lead consists that will depart with freights for Portland/Hinkle and points east. In this era UP also had a through freight from Seattle to Los Angeles routed through Salt Lake City, UT that could beat Southern Pacific's direct route from Portland south through California.
