Early On Ideas. A visit to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority New York Transit Museum in Brooklyn, New York is always fun. In addition to the gift shop and numerous exhibits on the mezzanine level that display signs, photos, and models, both tracks of the former Court Street Station are full of examples of different models of subway cars and work equipment. Some of the cars are notable for being early examples of things that have become more common on the modern system. Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit Triplex-D 6095 C and B show the "open gangway" configuration that joined together the interiors of the 122 3-car sets built by ACF (1925-1928). Although the BMT was fully committed to this concept for a number of models, the IRT and IND were still buying single unit cars. This concept returned very recently with the introduction of the Kawasaki built R211T.
