Twilight of The Coal Burner
After 143 years of near continuous use of coal-burning power on the Silverton Branch of the Denver and Rio Grande Western, the last coal burner poses for her final night photo shoot under steam as such. Later this year, the 481 will undergo the transformation to oil-burning which will allow it to run year-round through the San Juan Mountains like its brethren. |
