| The southbound intermodal train 40203 of SBB Cargo International from Rotterdam Waalhavn/Netherlands via Basel-B?zberg-Gotthard and Ceneri Base Tunnels to Chiasso, is leaving the 57 kilomete rlong Gotthard Base tunnel at Pollegio near Bodio, with a Siemens "Vectron" locomotive rented from the LokRoll leasing company. Above the tunnel is the curved double track of the Gotthard mountain line. Since august 2023 with the derailment of a freight train in the west bore of the base tunnel with huge damage, all passenger trains are still using the Gotthard mountain line, since most of the freight is using the east bore of the Base Tunnel. |
