On this day, the 2-10-0 freight steam locomotive C 5/6 # 2978 from SBB Historic carried the school train from Basel Badischer Bahnhof via the old Hauenstein line to Olten. Train 79971 is on the Sissach-L?ufelfingen-Olten line between Diepflingen and Sommerau which was opened by the Swiss Central Railway (SCB) in 1858, on a gradient of 2.3 %. The carriages of the school and adventure train are stationed at a station for several days at a time and can be visited by school classes. In a hands-on and exciting learning environment, a team of pedagogically trained moderators works with the pupils on topics such as safety, sustainable energy use, mobility and career choices.
