Like the Old Days
In recent years, the GP40MCs, MBTA's oldest locomotives, have been assigned to North Side trains almost exclusively. In the summer of 2024 however, GP40MC-3s rebuilt in-house by the Rochester shops found their way into revenue service down south. While this is not a revenue train, once its high-speed testing is completed, 1117 will most likely join its sister 1138 as a South Side GP40.
