| A crewman rides point on this Conrail train enroute from Sayreville to Lakewood. The train is traversing the Southern Secondary through the Stavola Asphalt/Recycle Plant in Tinton Falls, NJ. In July 2022, the Chesapeake & Delaware LLC began operations over the formerly Conrail operated Southern and Freehold branches. In 2023 the C&D reconnected the Freehold and Southern branches at Farmingdale, thus bypassing this section of the Southern. Shots like this along this northern section of the Southern may be a thing of the past. |
