| The 12-Mile Climb: The typically long 277 brings hundreds of containers west from the Port of Norfolk on the Christiansburg District as it reaches the top of a 12-mile-long incline. This incline starts in Elliston, VA and maintains a 1% or higher grade for about 10 of the 12 miles until the tracks reach Christiansburg. |
