| Jointed rail, nice evening light, and SD40's bouncing along....what more can a guy ask for. The Ft. Dodge bound local is just west of Alden as they make their track from Waterloo to Dodge. The 6014 is 1 of 18 SD40As built by EMD between 1969 and 1970. Only 18 locomotives were built and exclusively for the IC (#6006-6023). The SD40A was basically an SD40 built on an SDP45 frame which allowed for a larger, 5000 gallon fuel tank. 6014 was retired in 2009. Scanned slide from October 2006. |
