      Remarks & Notes
Peabody Short Line was owned by the Peabody Coal Mine. The PSL ran from the River King Mine near Belleville, Illinois to the Peabody Coal Docks on the Mississippi River, directly across from the Gateway Arch. The coal docks was on the East St. Louis side of the river. In 1960 the Illinois Central took control of the PSL. It merged into the IC on August 1, 1961. Photo by Fred Bayer, from my collection.
