| Due to the devastation on the former Clinchfield between Spruce Pine and Erwin, coal for Duke Energy's Cliffside Plant is taking circuitous routes. Here, empties head railroad north (geographically east) on the Charlotte Sub. As the circuit detects occupancy, the spring switch indicator signal comes to life with the odd-looking "clear" to indicate the switch is lined for the main. |
