A Snowy Night In Delford. On the night of January 19, 2025, NJT's Conrail Heritage Unit, GP40PH-2B NJTR 4208 (ex-CR 3191, née-Penn Central 3191, EMD, GP40, 10/1968) led NJ Transit Train 2121 through by the Oradell, New Jersey Station in the snow. The classic depot is one of only two on the line with a second story, largely due to the unusual fact that the freight house was part of the passenger station (Hillsdale is the other, because it was the headquarters of the original owner, the New Jersey & New York Railroad). Originally incorporated as 'Delford', a portmanteau of 'Oradell' and 'New Milford', in 1920 Oradell became its own borough. Conrail operated passenger service on this line from 1976-1983, and continued to provide freight service until Norfolk Southern assumed control of this portion of the network in 1999.
