| On a hot summer day the LIRR's welded rail train is seen reversing through the pine barrens on the Calverton spur. Due to the train's excessive length, the crew is attempting to see where they can tie down for the day without fouling any crossings. This was the first of many welded rail trains that would be brought out to the spur during the trackwork between Ronkonkoma and Greenport. |
