    Norfolk Southern crews work to lift the last deck section into place on the Newport River bridge that was damaged in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in September of 2024. This missing link has cut off Asheville, NC from the rest of the rail network for nearly six months. Norfolk Southern is estimating April 1st, 2025 for restoration of service to Asheville.
