Signaling A Return To The Past. Just a short distance from the Wood-Ridge Station on March 2, 2025, NJT Train 2111 passes the remnants of a former Erie Railroad signal in East Rutherford, New Jersey near Paterson Plank Road with New Jersey Transit's Conrail Heritage Unit, GP40PH-2B NJTR 4208 (ex-CR 3191, née-Penn Central 3191, EMD, GP40, 10/1968) leading. After significant rebuilding in the modern era to expand capacity on the Pascack Valley Line, there are few reminders of the Erie's ownership of the railroad relating to track and signals, though numerous stations are still used and well preserved. The heritage locomotive allows one to imagine back to the time when signals mounted on this structure may have been active.
