NS 24X detours on the Port Reading Secondary. The leader was rebuilt from C44-9W NS 9279 in May 2022. Behind the leader are C44-9W locomotives NS 9811 and NS 9911. On this weekend, freight trains were detouring on the Port Reading Secondary due to MOW crews working on the restoration of Crossover #3 at CP Townley in Union, NJ. In December 2017, eastbound freight CSX Q404 derailed at CP Townley on Track #2, damaging the interlocking. Crossover #3 remained unrestored until this weekend in November 2024, almost 7 years later. The restoration did not last long: in February of 2025, westbound freight NS 21W derailed at the same location on Track #2, destroying the recently restored Crossover #3.
