| Not the CNW? Fox River Valley 4508 skirts the shore of Lake Winnebago as it leads a freight thru Oshkosh, WI in January of 1993. The classic CNW semaphore was used as the approach to the Fox River bridge just north of here. This ex-CNW line would prove to be quite valuable in a few years when acquired by the Wisconsin Central. It would allow them to abandon their parallel line to the west which included some street running and torturous curves. The WC would eventually be acquired by the CN and remains an important and busy mainline. |
