Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 572, heading from Los Angeles to San Diego, passes through CP Maple, the junction of Metrolink's Orange Sub and Olive Sub (and thus the plethora of switches), in Orange. Amtrak P42DC 156, decked out in the carrier's first paint scheme (dubbed the "Pointless Arrow" scheme by railfans) to honor the passenger system's 50th Anniversary. Behind the five Amfleet cars and single Horizon car is NPCU 90208, the "Cabbage" (again, railfan-speak) formerly Amtrak F40PH 208, since converted into a Non-Powered Control Unit with a baggage compartment where the diesel engines used to be.
