With the Sangre de Cristo Mountains providing the backdrop, well traveled SLRG #18 runs around the wye in La Veta before returning to Alamosa, CO. If beauty alone could keep a railroad open, the Rio Grande Scenic would be alive and well, but alas a few short years later this would all be a memory. Thankfully, #18 is still around and awaits restoration at the Colebrookdale Railroad in PA.
