There is a lot to see at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento. But, if you're lucky enough to get into the old Central Pacific/Southern Pacific shops nearby, there is even more to see, albeit much of it is not in displayable condition. In this view are:
? Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway F7A 347C (ex-ATSF 306C, née-ATSF 39C), restored in 1988 by the AT&SF into the classic Warbonnet paint scheme for use in a promotional film
? Central Pacific 2-6-2T 233, built in these shops by the CPRR back in 1882
? Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway 2-6-2 1010, a Prairie steam locomotive built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1901, that powered a one-time, record-breaking passenger train operated by the Santa Fe from Los Angeles to Chicago at the request of Walter E. Scott, known as "Death Valley Scotty" ... a speed record on the Railway that would not be broken until the 1936 introduction of the Super Chief
? Union Pacific 0-6-0 4466, constructed by Lima Locomotive Works in 1920
