| Take Rope.
The conductor of San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni) cable car 3 operates a lever in the street to lift the subgrade cable into the jaws of the car's grip. Once the grip operator feels the vibration of the cable running through the grip, they will grab on and start their run on the Powell-Mason line! Car 3 was built in 1893 by Carter Bros., and nowadays sports a paint scheme worn by cable cars in the 1960s and 1970s. |
