The Oberwei?bacher Bergbahn, renamed the Thüringer Bergbahn in 2020,is a railway line in the Thuringian Slate Mountains, now operated by DB RegioNetz Verkehrs GmbH Oberwei?bacher Berg- und Schwarzatalbahn. Since 1922, it has connected the Obstfelderschmiede stop on the Schwarzatal Railway with the municipality of Cursdorf. To overcome the height difference of more than 300 meters between the Schwarzatal valley and the plateau, a funicular railway with a gauge of 1800 mm was built from Obstfelderschmiede to Lichtenhain. Here you can see the "Cabrio car" (open top car) named "Mellenbach-Glasbach" entering the valley station of Obstfelderschmiede. This car is transported on the so called "Güterbühne", on which standard gauge freight cars could brought up from the valley to Lichtenhain and Cursdorf, discontinued in 1966.
