CSX train M820 splits the classic B&O CPLs in
"downtown" Holton, Indiana, as my oldest daughter waves to the crew from the trackside post office on August 8, 2025.
Signal upgrades mean these classic signals will fall on August 20, replaced by a single masted "Vader" governing traffic in both directions behind me. While the spirit of the B&O will live on as long as trains roll through Holton, it definitely won't feel the same.
Photos showing the railroad pole lines. The pole line used four basic electrical circuits - telegraph, telephone, signaling, and power. Modern technologies of fiber optics, microwave, radio, satellite, and computers have been replacing the pole lines.
