100 years ago today, on August 26, 1925, the first run of a Denver & Rio Grande Western K-36 mikado took place with locomotive 480 on a caboose hop from Salida to Gunnison.
Fast forward to just one week shy of this anniversary, 480 is seen here doing what it has done since July of 1985 when it first began its second life, pulling passenger trains for its new owner, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
