Built in 1944 this locomotive was originally owned by Manufacturers Railway MRS 208 (an ALCo S2), then underwent an extensive rebuild and later became FTRL 253 for Forster Townsend Rail Logistics . After this it was sold to Liberty Railroad Services as LRSX 253. It is now being used by NYNJ Rail. NYNJ Rail operates rail yards on both sides of the Upper New York Harbor, one in Brooklyn and one in Jersey City. The two rail yards are connected by a car float. In recent years this locomotive has been photographed in Brooklyn, however, it is now situated on the New Jersey side of the harbor in Greenville Yard. Originally developed in 1904 by the Pennsylvania Railroad, the yard was later taken over by Conrail. It has been owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey since 2010.
