With the horsepower race in full swing in 1966, Electro-Motive Division unleashed a new concept in motive power, a 20-cylinder engine capable of delivering 3600hp. With this new V20 "645" power plant EMD once again gained the lead. Great Northern, always a leader in quality motive power, was the first railroad to purchase these monsters, which weighed in at over 182 tons. The first eight of these 6-axle, 400-407, model, "HUSTLE MUSCLE". The locomotive carried this name even into the Burlington Northern Cascade Green as BN 6430, after the 1970 merger. in 1985 BN donated this historic locomotive to the Great Northern Railway Historical Society and it is now displayed at the Lake Superior Museum in Duluth, Minnesota.
