On this day, the 150th anniversary of the Rorschach-Heiden Mountain Railway (RHB) was celebrated. The standard-gauge railway with Riggenbach rack and pinion runs from Rorschach on the shores of Lake Constance up to the climatic health resort of Heiden in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden. Additional special trains with older rolling stock were in service. The locomotive, or baggage car, DZeh 2/4 # 22, built in 1930 by SLM and MFO, takes train 35930 from Heiden down to Rorschach and Rorschach Hafen, between Heiden and the Schwendi stop. The closed cars AB # 13 and # 12 were also built in 1930 by SIG in Neuhausen. The two open “summer carriages” B # 6 and # 5 were built in 1875 and are used daily in good weather during the warmer months with the modern railcar. They are among the oldest vehicles in regular service in Switzerland.
