    Remarks & Notes
Possibly for the first time ever, a passenger train runs on the south end of UP's Cane Creek Subdivision. Construction on the line started in August 1961 by the Denver and Rio Grande Western. It was completed in late 1962, although I do not know if Rio Grande ever ran a passenger train (such as an officer's special) on the line. On a perfect September afternoon, a UP special heads south in Bootlegger Canyon, roughly 29 miles south of the Utah desert mainline (the Green River Subdivision) at Brendel. Apparently, most (if not all) of UP's "C-Level" officers were on board the train for this unique journey near Arches National Park. Indeed, if you look above the cut between three and four cars back, you can see Corona Arch! UP had what looked to be a hand-polished C44ACM leading, with the Abraham Lincoln unit (UP 1616) for power.
