| An eastbound mixed freight descends Ash Hill toward Amboy while, in the distance, a westbound stacker struggles around the horseshoe curve at Siberia on the high line. The dual transcontinental mainlines split briefly at Siberia, giving westbounds attacking the mountain a longer but shallower climb from Amboy (639ft) to the Ash Hill summit (1940ft). The valley floor and surrounding mountains provide a unique backdrop for photography along this portion of "The Transcon." |
