| The prototype English Electric Deltic 3,300hp Co-Co arrives at Grantham with a Leeds Central to Kings Cross express. The exploits of this sky blue loco led to British Railways ordering 22 production examples that were to replace 55 of the ECMLs finest pacifics included Flying Scotsman and Mallard.
