| A 50-degree day has the snow melting in Wisconsin. The result is mushy roadbed conditions over the frozen tundra necessitating a few slow orders on both the CP and nearby UP Adams sub. The local meteorologist says the groundfrost is to a depth of about 4.5', and heaving in the freeze-thaw cycle takes a toll on railroads just as it does highways in this neck of the woods. |
