A pair of General Electric distributed power units trail a Skyline, UT to Barstow, CA coal load down Soldier Summit at Detour, Utah. The gradient down the summit's west slope (2%, compensated) flattens out a bit beyond Detour. Note the head end power curving beyond the new US Hwy. 6 overpass.
