      Remarks & Notes
With eyes fixed on the oncoming traffic and carrying her only weapon...a large red flag....Conductor Amy bravely steps onto Merrimack Street to make the crossing safe for her Park Service Trolley. From the control stand, Motorman Sharon keeps watch for Amy's safety. Massachusetts Drivers are legendary for their aggressive styles and the trolley crews in Lowell have their hands full keeping their vintage machines and the motorists safely separated. The trolleys are always manned by at least two crewmembers and often more. The Park Service employees are supplemented by a sizeable corps of volunteer flaggers, many of whom are qualified Motormen and Conductors from the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, Maine.
