Remarks & Notes
Monson Railroad Forney #4 moves in to make the hitch on Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Caboose #553 in preparation for an afternoon excursion on the Portland waterfront. This view from inside the caboose shows the spartan, wood construction that was typical of two-foot gauge rolling stock. It also gives the viewer a good idea of the degree to which the car bodies overhang the very narrow trucks.

A far cry from the common wedgie ... and particularly well executed.
