| A Mainline Electric Multiple Unit train heads south. MEMUs are narrower than standard EMUs, which allows them to operate throughout the system. In the three hours I was at Vasai, however, this was the only rake of MEMUs that I saw pass. It was on a Dahanu Road to Panvel run, and would take the mostly freight line at the junction in order to move from the Western Railway to the Central Railway. MEMUs were first produced in 1993 by ICF (Integral Coach Factory at Perambur). |
