| Western Pacific heritage unit 1983 leads two other specially painted locomotives (1996 and 2002) westward with a 11,766 foot, 162 car "monster" stacker in check behind. The grueling 2.2% grade of Cima Hill can be easily seen in this compressed image, with the rear car an estimated 260ft higher than the lead locomotive. Temperatures were already in the mid-90s when this shot was taken at 9:55am on a gorgeous summer morning. |
