It seems that Union Pacific's Roper Terminal near 21st South in South Salt Lake is about to be veiled by yet another overpass. This time though, it's not a freeway ramp, but a railroad bridge. Utah Transit Authority is building a new light rail extension from Central Point on the Sandy Line to West Valley City. The route is required to navigate both the I-15 freeway corridor and UP's Roper Terminal. In this view, new bridge beams reach skyward on temporary supports while a second set of girders are prepped on the ground to lift and bolt into position (out of view, behind the photographer) spanning the entire north end of the yard.
