Burlington Northern SD40-2 6847 was built by EMD in July 1978 as Saint Louis - San Francisco (Frisco) 957. When the Frisco was acquired by the BN on November 21, 1980, this engine became BN 6847. Following the BN/Santa Fe merger on December 31, 1996, this engine changed identities once again, becoming Burlington Northern Santa Fe 6847.
