    Remarks & Notes
C&O 1601's cab is immaculate at the Ford Museum. Here is a fun fact, if you pull the throttle, you get steam sound effects. Cool! To keep people from tripping on the grate shakers the museum has put up diamond plating. The long rod from the fireman's side to the engineer's side allows the engineer to control the feedwater heater as well as the fireman. Normally, the engineer just controls the injector. On the 1601 the injector was controlled by a racketing handle next to the engineer's seat but it has been removed. It seems late model Lima's generally came this way. However, I know the engineer's feedwater control has been removed from NKP No. 765. Something along the lines of, "No engineer is getting their hands on MY feedwater heater!"

A tribute to the engineers who drive the engines of America's railways. Comments welcome from those who sat behind the trottle.
