With the passage of time nature is reclaiming the old GN tunnel. The railroad completed the bore in December, 1900, the original line used a system of eight switchbacks to cross Stevens Pass. In January, 1929 the new tunnel was put in service, making the town of Wellington-Tye obsolete. I was inspired to explore the area after reading Martin Burwash's book "Vis Major"
