Southbound RF&P intermodal train No. 175 was cresting the grade at Rutherglen, VA on Dec. 12, 1987 with GP40-2 No. 147 in the lead. No. 175 operated between Potomac Yard in Alexandria, VA and Florida, carrying blocks for several Florida destinations. With the holiday fast approaching, you can bet that the train was heavy with UPS trailers.
