        Remarks & Notes
Dashing through the snow. The Wilmington & Western Railroad's 1909-vintage 4-4-0 leads a Lerro Productions Charter across the snow-covered Bridge 10A and into the line's Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove. This bridge is one of 9 that span the Red Clay Creek on the old B&O Landenberg Branch that is now the Wilmington & Western. In 2003, 7 of the 9 were either severely damaged or destroyed by floods in the wake of Tropical Storm Henri, leaving the railroad with just a couple of miles of usable trackage. It took a four-year design and construction effort, facilitated by private fund-raising and grants from FEMA to replace the destroyed wooden trestles with modern steel structures like the one you see here, but in 2007, the Wilmington & Western Railroad was able to resume steam excursions over their entire line from Greenbank to Hockessin.
