| Back in 1979, things were done a bit differently when it came to communications. A trainman had dismounted and was talking on the phone to get authority to proceed further up the Logan Subdivision to West Gilbert where a connection was made with N&W. The mine run was comprised of empty hoppers that would be swapped out for loads at a mine up the line. The Elk Creek Subdivision diverged to the right. Today, I am sure that the phone box is gone and all this can be handled via radio, from the comfort of a locomotive cab. |
